A case for day care in schools for teachers

Addressing declining participation of women in the labour force and the Maternity Benefit Act, 2017 in India, this project takes a closer look at schools as workplaces for young mothers. It explores the challenges and the kind of support systems that women rely on.




PRIMARY RESEARCH

I interviwed 15 young mothers (30-45yrs) who are teachers in private schools and 5 school principals.
CONTEXT OF RESEARCH

4 out of 15 are single mothers

4 out of 15 have partners who work in different time zones 


5 out of 15 live in a different
city as their family

HOW MIGHT WEMake the school authorities realise the social cost of having a day care for children at the workplace and aim them to come up with a unique solution according to their demographics, resources & structure.
